Folks ask 'why tandem?' well it makes me work harder. .ie front rider (takes the shit outa me)...n doesn't defeat Dean in trying 2 keep up...we can talk...b together...halve th headwind which can psycologically do ya head in (so that would b mine).. reduce amount of spares 2 carry...twice th speed on th downhill (death wobble thrill) And when it hard going we give eachother support. The downside...limited weight (gear) 4 2people..yet weighs quarter of a ton when we're on it... we can't stand up when peddling uphill(prob need 2 b in sync) This road would have killed Clappy's bak & ankle on single bike pushing thru sand...so tandem was a wiser choice. We also get a different response on a tandem..people r less likely run us over like canetoads on the highways. We don't take any chances wth semi's...they wouldn't know if they had sucked u off.
Whilst in Katherine, the hospitality was wonderful...Taxi service & entertainment..alcohol from John n Di, who came all th way from Darwin 2 join us. Bob n Maris n girls for repairs 2 bike trailer, BBQ & extensive quirky digs-backyard..& the funiest quilloquilisims we've ever heard. Vince n Jill 4 their hospitality..fantastic surrounds.. garden/orchard..cant wait 2 get n start ours. & Stumpy...hurrying all the way here from S.A 2 catch up with Dean. Thx guys.
